Order Description

Performance Improvement
Choose one (1) area that requires performance improvement within an area of health care practice (clinical – e.g. A skill or clinical process, managerial -e.g. Leadership issue or team building, or education – e.g. Related program to a particular performance/activity you would like to see improved).

Analyse & critically discuss the following key points:
– the area of organisational performance that is of concern and how it relates to the organisation’s strategic goals and objectives
-the steps required to implement a process for improving this aspect of organisational performance
-the approach best suited to improving performance in this instance
-the type of performance indicators or measures selected
-strategies for motivating and engaging stakeholder in ongoing performance improvement

OR

Change Management project or strategy
Reflect on a recent change management project or strategy that has been undertaken in a health related organisation. Using the literature from the module readings (and any other relevant literature) analyse and critically discuss the following key points:
-the purpose of the change project or strategy and how it relates to the organisation’s mission and strategic goals/objectives
-the change management strategies and processes used to plan an implement the change
-the barriers and facilities to the success of this change management strategy or project
-the leadership interventions that were evident and any you would have recommended for this project or strategy

For this assignment, you are expected to:
-write a scholarly essay which explores the chosen topic in a critical manner and demonstrate a good understanding of the ideas and concepts related to leading organisational performance improvement or change management.
-demonstrate an ability to apply the ideas and concepts to the program being discussed.
-use the accepted format for a scholarly essay including an introduction, sections made up of a number of paragraphs that address each of the assignment points and a comprehensive conclusion.

Marking Criteria and standards:
1. Content & relevance of analysis and discussion (20%)
Identifies change or Performance improvement issue.
Addresses the chosen topic in a critical manner and demonstrate a sound understanding of the ideas and concepts related to change or performance Improvemnet. Critically discusses all key issues in the assignment outline.
-essay shows a generally good level of understanding of key issues and arguments. Applies the theory to the change strategy or performance improvement plan to demonstrate understanding. Some key issues need better application

2. Critical use of literature 15%
-Good use of relevant resource materials; shows some analysis and integration of information.

3. Essay organisation and development 15%
-there is a structure to the essay, although elements of structure need further development. An argument can be identified, although the argument may be overly reliant on repetition of source material or generalisation.

4. English expression & grammar 5%

5. Presentation if work and referencing 5%
